In 1892 an outbreak of tuberculous was making waves across New England.  In the small town of Exeter, Rhode Island, one family became consumed with the disease.  Folklore and a lack of modern medicine had the townspeople believing an evil power was behind all the death and disease and ended up digging up the graves of a local family, the Brown’s.  When they unearthed one of the daughter’s, Mercy L. Brown, her body faced minimal decomposition and hence was believed to be an undead Vampire.  Her organs where then burned, mixed with water and fed to her brother Edward, who died shortly thereafter.  This incident became known as The Mercy Brown Incident.
